LG K10 LTE is LG's newest smartphone for the sub 15k segment.

Brief Description

At the CES 2016, LG unveiled its newest entry level smartphone, the LG K10 LTE. technically K10 LTE is not a model but a variant in the K10 series other notable variant being its 3G counter part, the K10 3G. it was designed to compete against its rivals like the Note K4 Vibe and the Moto G4. another notable thing about this is that it the first mobile by LG under the make in India initiative.

The phone has a good 5.3 inches HD IPS LCD display with good picture quality and vibrant color composition. it is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad Core SnapDragon 410 processor and a separate Adreno 304 GPU. packing a good 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage expandable upto 32 GB via microSD card.

Packing a 13 MP primary camera with auto focus, video recording and the usual what not and a 5 MP front facing camera. the phone is shipped with Android version 5.1 but hopefully LG will start to roll out updates as soon as possible.

Design and Build

Every thing aside, one thing that LG smartphones always has is looks. yes, you can call it one of most cool looking smartphone in its segment, for now until they launch another one of their product obviously. having a textured back panel which provides a good grip and you will notice the difference as soon as you hold it in your hand. this textured also added to its design and looks which distinguish it from other smartphones.

another eye catch on the back is the volume controller which is located just below the primary camera which is also a unique feature but sometimes it becomes a pain while operating as it accidently gets pressed while in the pocket and while calling. On the front having no Gorilla Glass and the display is also not scratch resistant, LG provides their own screen guard for protection but that too becomes a eyesore as it is not edge to edge. but even after that the phone looks amazing with its round edges and curved back panel.

Performance

When we talk about performance it can be said that LG K10 LTE lacks a bit. with a SnapDragon 410 processor and 2 GB, these specs are acceptable although not great. if we talk about other smartphone in this segment the specs are outmatched by a long margin and there are some phones in the 10K and sub 10K segment that offers somewhat better specs than K10 LTE but everything cannot be said just by looking some mere numbers.

The performance was surprisingly acceptable and the UI didn't lag that much. most of the apps functioned soomthly although when we turned to heavy gaming and operating multiple apps in the background, it started to lag. the benchmark also showed the same with average results for obvious reasons.

The camera performance was also despite having a 13 MP camera. during the day it performed well with crisp and sharp images. it is the low light and the night images that turned it down. the battery performance wasn't that great too. if you use your phone to the days length you might had to get hold on that charger. and one of the main battery drainer was gaming as continuous gaming dropped the battery life in just couple hours.

Verdict

Looks and style of the LG K10 LTE was unmatched and sure it outperformed most of the smartphones in this category and also in the 20K category and there is no harming in saying that this is one of the most good looking smartphone on the market but the performance is where it drops dead. the hardware and the specs would have been impressive but some years ago. you can have a smartphone with double the performance in half the price. and even with an acceptable camera doesn't adds up to it.

so for the potential buyer who are looking upto it or are looking up for a phone in sub 15K segment and want phone that boast looks and style, this is your thing and you don't have to look any further as this clearly outweigh your need but if you are hardware driven and looking for something powerful then you won't be satisfied with this.
