Msi Gt80 2QE Titan is a powerful gaming laptop that boast both power and style. Msi has equipped this beast with massive amount of hardware that you can notice just by taking a look because of its massive size. Getting straight to the business Gt80 2QE houses an intel core i7 6820hk 6th generation processor having a clock of 2.7 GHz and turbo boost upto 3.2 GHz. also having 16 gigs of DDR4 RAM at speed of 2133 MHz that can be expanded upto 32 GB. all the is pretty good for a laptop but here things get more interesting, Gt80 2QE pack dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M team up in SLI. yes you heard right two GTX 980M, and here is the answer to why this laptop is so damn big and looks more like portable gaming rig. well technically speaking packing this much hardware in a laptop, it can be called a portable gaming rig and I will come to that statement later but this revelation also solves another problem, its massive price tag of 330K.

Build and Design
when you first look at it you can't even describe what on the earth it really is. nut slowly you realize, oh it is a laptop. Gt80 2QE come full matte black with red pin striping and red backlit keyboard, a beautiful color combination. the lid is made of metal with polished texture other than that it is mostly plastic. with astounding weight of 4.5 kg it would be pretty hard to carry this giant like a regular laptop. on opening the Gt80 you will come across something that you had never seen before ( other than the dual GTX 980M ), a Steel Series MECHANICAL KEYBOARD. see that's why I told you that it can be called a portable gaming rig. so moving on alongside the keyboard you have the numpad which doubles as the touchpad ( they have to put it somewhere ). for those who are left handed gamers, its a bad news for them but I think they would use the their gaming mouse so that won't be a problem to them.
The keyboard is backed up by a red glare beneath it which just adds up to its aura. above the keyboard you would notice another thing that's not common to other laptop that is blank space ( no not the taylor swift song ). this area has a mattle black finish just like the lid and probably is the extended portion of the laptop to house its dual GPU.
Going a little more up and you will come across its display. Gt80 2QE sports a 18.4 inch full HD LED anti glare 1080p display with a 1080p full HD webcam for video calls, recording or streaming purposes. looks like they took pc display and just shoved it in a laptop.
Hardware and Performance
what would have the makers of this beast thought when they had came up with the idea, "just grab the best hardware at that time and put it in a laptop". it has 5 usb 3.0 port, a usb 3.1 port, a audio jack and the usual what not of all the laptops ( seriously I have tell "this" to you ). to power it self when not plugged in it has a 8 cell battery that gives the laptop a stand by time of 3 hours ( this number would obviously be less when you will be gaming ). but there is a minor down side of packing this much hardware that is the power consumption which would be as much as a gaming rig.
With its dual GTX 980M you could run any games on the market right now ( and probably next year too ) in ultra high setting and with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM should be ample enough to support you videos editing and if that doesn't do you would always have the option to expand the RAM upto 32 GB. to reduce the power consumption while gaming it has the usual intel HD graphics but for some reason it cannot switch between its primary and secondary card on the go like modern laptops, you have to restart it to do so.
Verdict
One might think at this price you could build at gaming rig thrice as powerful as this and to them I say its true, but we don't need to see this as value for money stand point otherwise every gaming laptop would be obsolete. so lets forget about the 330k price tag for a second and appreciate it for what it is. what Msi tried to do is build what other only can imagine, the most powerful portable gaming machine and they have surely succeeded for now. we all now that in the upcoming time some other company would try surpass them by doing something even more ridiculous or msi might try themselves.
But in the end this is a review and we have to give a verdict so here it is, there is no doubt that with specs like these it is unbeatable and the mechanical keyboard was just the cherry on the top but that created some issues, the sound sound wasn't that good even having SABRE audio system. summarizing all this I would say Gt80 2QE comes very good as a portable gaming rig but fall short as a laptop.
