The largest Indian Smartphone manufacturer , Micromax is a major player in the budget segment . The company recently launched a new smart phone for the sub 8 - 9 k range , targeting the usual budget segment of smartphones .
The Micromax Canvas Evok is a fresh approach , in terms of design , built , hardware and software .

DESIGN AND DISPLAY :
Being a budget smartphone , a minimum emphasis is given on the design . There is no metal on the smartphone exterior . The back panel consists of textured plastic .
There is a 5.5 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels  , 267 ppi pixel density and a corning gorilla glass for protection .

PERFORMANCE AND CAMERA :

The rear camera has a 13 megapixel sensor along with AF and LED flash , whereas the front has a 5 megapixel fixed focus camera .
A snapdragon 415 ( 1.4 GHz ) octa core  SoC runs the phone , and is coupled with 3gb RAM and 16gb ROM with an option to expand the storage upto 32 gb via micro sd card .
To power up the phone , it contains a 3000 mAh battery . It support 4G LTE as well .
Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop , the phone seems a bit outdated

VERDICT :
Since this is a budget smartphone , you cannot expect top notch specs . But still , the design is cheap and the software is outdated .
However , at this price point , it is a decent buy .
